How it works — start to settled-in.
Choosing a residential home is one of the harder decisions a family will make. We try to make the process itself simple and unhurried — five short steps, with the right people at each one.
- 01
First conversation
Either home is happy to take a first call. Tell us about the person you’re asking on behalf of — what they used to do, what they enjoy now, what worries you about the move. We will tell you honestly whether we think we’re the right home for them.
- 02
Visit one (or both) homes
Drop in for tea, with or without the relative who might come to live with us. Bring questions; bring family members. Visits are not a sales pitch — they are how a decision like this should be made.
- 03
Care needs assessment
If we both feel it’s a fit, our manager will visit your relative wherever they are now — at home, in hospital, in temporary care — to understand what daily support will look like and put a written care plan together.
- 04
Fees, contracts, paperwork
We’ll quote the weekly fee in writing before anything is signed, including what is and isn’t covered. If a local authority is contributing, we’ll work through the paperwork with you.
- 05
Moving in
We help you plan the room — what to bring, what we provide. Most new residents settle in faster than families expect; the small scale of the home seems to help with that.
About fees
Weekly fees depend on the room and the level of care needed; we quote them in writing for each enquiry rather than publishing a generic figure that may not be right for your relative’s circumstances. We’re always happy to talk through what the number includes, what it doesn’t, and how local-authority contributions can sit alongside private fees.
